The following definitions apply to terms used in the identification of assault weapons pursuant to Penal Code section 12276.1:

(d) "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon" means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top exposed portion of the trigger while firing.

The MonsterMan Grip is not a "pistol grip", nor does it allow a "pistol style grasp".

When using the MMG on your Off List Rifle, do not have any banned features (a - f) on your rifle.  Keep your rifle 30 inches or longer and have a minimum barrel length of 16 inches.

The MMG will not take a unregistered "listed" firearm out of assault weapon status.  If it is listed, nothing you can do can make it CA legal again.

The MonsterMan Grip is not CA-DOJ approved or disapproved.
I contacted the DOJ in May of 2006 and I was verbally told it was up to the 58 DA's to decide if it was legal or not.  I sent the DOJ a grip in December of 2006 for further evaluation and I have yet to hear a response from them.  I am still in process of trying to get an approval letter.  While I feel it follows the spirit and letter of the law, it is up to the user to use at their own risk.
